The folks at Ten One Design just came up with a dope application for you Iphone lovers:

SoundClip directs sound from iPhone toward you to increase the clarity and volume for movies and music. It also makes games easier to play without blocking your iPhone's speaker.

A tuned conical deflection chamber designed to make the audio from your iPhone clearer and also slightly louder. Sound waves are reflected toward you, instead of away, so you feel more involved in your game, movie, or music.

42 good things

Last week FWA featured 42goodthings and I was checking out the site and one of the more interactive websites I've encountered. Check it out, they have 42 short videos on the dedicated website which I know whos going to go through all of them but see for yourself.

It's Samsung advertising their new phone - Omnia but I feel its a bit too late since now you have the Apple Iphone.

So as you all know I've been on this Apple tip with the 3G and I recently discovered this program which is made to share music without actually downloading it.

It works like an (AIM)instant messenger.

So whoever you add to your list, will get to listen to your itunes or the iphone app, and vice
versa. Whenever someone is logged in, their library will be available to listen to.

It's Free – No hidden charges and there's more, believe it or not - there's
No spyware.

It's easy and the set-up is fast. No need to upload files to a website.

It's Integrated – and plays music using iTunes, Winamp or Rhythmbox.

Only your group can access what you are sharing, and no one can see your other files.

My home girl Killah Karin from Illadel sent this to me and I thought I should share this.

So hoow does the headphone jack work then? The SIM card slot on the iPhone? The dock connector? These are things that kinda sorta need electrical conductivity to function.There's some spurious doublespeak going on here, so I'd really like to know more about how this works. I'm guessing that the coating must be so thin that as you push in your headphone plug, dock connector and sim card you scrape away just enough of the coating for contact to be made. Either that or they made the demonstration video using ethanol or distilled water.

Iphone App? Good or Bad or iFail

I assume that both applications below:

Pandora and AOL Radio are only streaming over WiFi but at 64kbps AAC/MP4 it is certainly possible that streaming over 3G is possible too.

The "Remote" app lets you use your iPhone and/or iPod Touch to control your iTunes - think about your laptop (or AppleTV) hooked up to your stereo while you site on the couch or sit in the backyard controlling the tunes.






Million dollar question: Will their servers stay up??

Just an important note for the existing Iphone users who want to upgrade:

You should know that if you currently try to upgrade your first gen iPhone to the 2.0 software, you will likely render your phone into a smooth, shiny thing until Apple works out the massive software/overload problems that they are facing today.I went through the upgrade process blissfully unaware of the problems. Now I have what the kids are calling an iFail.

Just a fyi...if you haven't noticed.....but Apple took down their support discussion board during this issue.

The Hatchery

I was finally able to check out what the Hatchery VC collaboration was all about after being invited a few times by Yao Hui Huang and numerous times I was going to go but something came up.

Dr. Yao Hui-Huang who is the CEO of Gigapixel Creative, a New York-based design and branding firm has been in charge of the Hatchery since 2007.

My first gauntlet took place at F.I.T. and they seem to have their events in different places throughout New York. I had no clue what to expect but they had a pretty good turn out at of about 150 people when I arrived and you are given a name tag and they had food & drinks where you can meet other folks that attended.

Within 30 min. you are directed toward the sitting area where they begin the gauntlet and introduced 4 panelists:

Perry Allison - VP of Social Marketing Innovation, Eon
Christian Busch - Vice President, Marketing, Takkle
Dan Porter - Senior VP, Corporate Development, Virgin
Sarah Tavel - Associate, Bessemer Ventures

I was only able to see the first company who presented which was a company from Portugal - Wizi which the company allows people to share their location with friends, family, and let people know where you are. One cool feature was that since they are already in Europe, if you are stuck in traffic, it can give you alternate routes.

One thing that bothered me about this idea was privacy because they are targeting the mobile market and currently they are building Wizi on the following Platforms:
- Android
- iPhone
- JavaME
- Blackberry
- Windows CE

If they succeed on finding investors they will definitely target the U.S. next which would be interesting to see.

Miguel I believe is the CSA of Wizi and is currently looking for people to join the company.

I know that Sarah Tavel did mention privacy and also how it would be an issue. Christian questioned the presenter on how are you going to generate revenue with the weak advertising going on in the mobile market and Dan Porter just thought in general through his experience that if they want to succeed they better come up with better metrics and have them ready in case investors are interested since these days you need your metrics and know your target market.

Unfortunately I was only able to catch the first presenter. I know that Tech Crunch was next but I think I will check out the next event which will be on Wednesday, August 6, 2008, 6:30 PM - Of Interest Hosted at HSBC.

For those that are looking for investors, I strongly suggest you checking out one of these events because it is the real deal and you definitely will learn something out of this.
